How to Learn Telekinesis in 6 Simple Steps

Your brain is more powerful than you think. Using the power of your mind, you can move physical objects. Some do this naturally, while others need training. It isn't an easy skill to learn, but with time and practice, you can do it.

Is It Possible to Learn Telekinesis?

Because telekinesis is a controlled burst of energy used to affect matter, many people can learn how to do at least a limited version of it. With a lot of focus and concentration, you may be able to affect objects. These effects may be small to start and build over time.

Others may discover their ability to affect matter mentally remains minimal. Still others may discover they can make objects move in a big way, or that they've been doing it all along subconsciously. While you may never be able to bend spoons with your brain like Uri Geller, you might be able learn to have at least a small physical effect on objects.

Step 1: Learn to Focus

In order to learn telekinesis, you first need to be able to focus your attention. Meditation is helpful for this, particularly gazing meditation where you focus on an object, such as a candle flame or a crystal. To do this:

  1. Sit somewhere you won't be disturbed.
  2. Place your focus object in front of you a foot or two away from your eyes but well in your line of sight.
  3. Begin by breathing deeply as you focus your soft gaze on the object.
  4. If your attention wanders, bring it gently back to the object.
  5. Practice this at first in short increments of around three to five minutes and work your way up to 20 minutes of focused attention.

Step 2: Watch Out for Negative Self-Talk

One of the biggest blocks to accomplishing virtually anything is how you talk to yourself and think about something. This is especially true when you are learning something that feels like it could be "impossible," such as moving objects with your mind.

Even if you don't believe you can do it, fake belief until you actually believe you can. So anytime you catch yourself thinking, "I can't do this" or something similar, change the thought immediately to "I can do this." Do this consistently every time you catch a negative thought, and soon it will happen almost automatically.

Step 3: Envision Your Energy

Much of learning to use telekinesis comes down to visualization and then putting that visualization into action. The best way to start is to envision your energy. This visualization can take any form that speaks to you. Maybe you picture your energy as a golden ray, or as a pink, glowing ball of energy. Alternatively, you could envision leaves blowing in the wind. Whatever visual inspires you and feels natural is the one you should go with.

  1. Sit in a quiet place, and close your eyes. Bring the image of your energy to mind.
  2. Picture your energy growing, from something hazy, to something that looks more solid and real.
  3. Let the visualization fall apart, and then build it again.
  4. Do this in in short, five minute sessions at first, until you become comfortable with the exercise and can easily build your visualization.

Step 4: Choose an Object to Move

You're not moving anything yet. Right now, you're just spending time really, really getting to know the object you've chosen to move. Start with something light: a wine cork is an excellent first option, because it's light and buoyant, and it has plenty of little details to focus on.

And that's what you're going to do in this step: look at the object you want to move, and really, really get to know it, almost as if you're becoming one with the object. Observe the color, the texture, any irregularities. How does it feel in your hand? How does it smell?

Do this until you can close your eyes and see it as if you were looking right at the object.

Step 5: Practice Moving Your Chosen Object

Now, it's time to practice moving the wine cork you spent all of that time getting to know in the previous step. Use all of that focus you put into learning about the cork, and marry it to the time you spent building and visualizing your energy.

  1. Fill a glass bowl with water and put it on a level surface.
  2. Float a cork in it.
  3. Sit where you can clearly see the cork, but make sure you're not touching the surface it sits on (if it's on a table, make sure your feet don't touch the table legs either).
  4. Clear your mind and breathe deeply. Focus on the cork.
  5. Decide how you want the cork to move. Do you want it to spin clockwise or counter clockwise? Do you want it to float across the bowl? Visualize the cork doing that as you focus on it.
  6. If visualizing isn't making it move, it's time to bring those visualizations of your energy into play. Imagine your energy connecting with the cork and moving it as you wish. If the cork even wobbles, consider it a success.
  7. Do this only for short periods to start. Try maybe five minutes at a time and take plenty of breaks.

Step 6: Work Your Way Up

If you have success with the cork, try other objects, working your way up over time. Some things to try include:

  • Put a feather, wisp of lint, or puff of cotton on a flat surface and turn a glass upside down over it. Try to get the puff to move.
  • Place a pen, pencil, or crayon on a flat surface and try to get it to roll or spin.
  • Gaze at a lit candle and try to bend the candle flame in a specific direction.
  • Place a small ball on the floor away from drafts and see if you can get it to roll a little. You can also do this with small toy cars that have moving wheels.

Tips for Better Telekinesis Practice

To give yourself the best chance for success, consider the following:

  • Make sure you're in a positive mindset when you start. If you're tired, angry, hungry, or sick, your focus won't be as strong and you'll be more likely to get frustrated.
  • Start with short sessions of just a minute or two. Only work your way up to longer sessions after you've had success at the shorter ones.
  • If you feel frustrated, step away, take a break, and come back when you're in a more positive frame of mind.
  • Try sending out a burst of energy. It may help to do this through your hands. Hold your hands towards the object you're trying to move making sure you don't bump the surface it's on or touch it in any way. Now imagine energy coming up from the earth through your feet, up your body, into your hands, and bursting out of your hands towards the object.
  • You can also try visualizing the energy as a string between you and the object. Then, pull the strand of energy with your mind.
  • Consider even a tiny movement success and build on that.
  • Keep it light and fun. If you start to take it too seriously or get too intense, you may block your own abilities.

The Power of the Mind

You can test your telekinesis abilities using the same activities you use to strengthen them. Whether you try to move a dust bunny or a mountain, tapping into the power of your mind is a fascinating experiment.
