What Is Psychometry?
The psychic art of psychometry is a unique talent that, unlike many psychic gifts, has a physical aspect. Set a Protective Shield
Choose a quiet place where you won't be interrupted. Before you do anything else, create a protective psychic shield. You can do this with a simple visualization, such as imagining a bubble of protective white light popping out from your core and surrounding you.
Connect to the Spiritual Realm
Next, establish a link with the spiritual realm. This adjusts your frequency so you can tap into the energy of the object on a spiritual/psychic level. Meditation is a great way to do this. Choose whatever style of meditation you're comfortable doing and establish a daily practice. Then, perform a quick 5 to 10 minute meditation to connect before you begin a psychometry session.
Connect With the Energy of the Object
Once you have protected and prepared yourself, take the object in both hands if it's small enough, or hold it in your non-dominant hand (or touch it with your non-dominant hand) if it's too big to hold in both hands. Notice What You Experience
Now, as you continue to hold the object, pay attention to any sensations you notice. You may see, hear, feel, smell, taste, or know things you didn't notice before. All of these might be information about the object, particularly if it's a sensation or knowing you weren't having before you touched it.
Record Your Reading
Once you've completed your reading, document what you noticed while it's still fresh in your mind. Write/type it in a report format or verbally record what you experienced and saw. With subsequent readings, you may find that verbally recording as you progress is a good way to keep everything fresh. Some people find verbal communication during a reading distracting. Use the method that works best for you.
Evaluate Your Results
Once you've documented everything, take a break. Distance yourself from your reading so when you evaluate the results, you do so with a fresh mind. Some psychometry readers take a 24-hour break before taking it up once more. When you're ready, ask yourself the following:
- Did you receive any imagery? If so, was it clear enough for you to understand what you were seeing?
- Were there any people present? If so, did you understand their connection to the object?
- Did you receive any emotions connected with the object? If so, what were these?
- Could you identify from the people and emotions, who owned the object?
- Did you gain an understanding what was going in the images and/or information you picked up?
- Were there any contradictions in the images and/or information you received? What were these and why did they appear to be contradictions?
Make a Conclusion
Once you've gone through your notes and have evaluated your reading, you want to write a conclusion about the object and its history. You can do this in any form you choose. A narrative is often the best format since it allows you to describe what you saw, heard, smelled, tasted, and felt while holding the object.
Practice Regularly
If you wish to hone your psychometry skills, you need to practice regularly. You will eventually be able to pick up an object and immediately receive impressions from it. This is especially useful if you are into antiques or secondhand items and wish to avoid taking a haunted object home with you.
